Looking for a new park for your kids to play? Want a new adventure in Newcastle? We have gathered the best parks you can visit in Newcastle, to play and have fun.
If you prefer to spend time playing with the kids outdoors rather than watching them hurtling around indoor soft play, you’ll be on the lookout for fun places to take them. Most families love going to the park on weekends, but it’s not always easy to find places that have good facilities that will keep your children entertained. Here are some of the parks your kids will love!
Rising Sun Country Park, Benton
Set in 400 acres, the Rising Sun County Park is a very good place to bring the kids to have fun, leisure and see some wildlife too. Children can bring their bikes, or you can all just have a wonderful stroll around the park as there are a lot of footpaths and bridleways crossing along the Country Park. There is also a cafe where you can stop off for light refreshments, or enjoy a picnic at one of the tables nearby. Children can also enjoy the adventure playground and wildlife garden, as well as seeing animals down at the farm for more enjoyment.
Saltwell Park, Gateshead
Steeped in history, Saltwell Park is also a good place to go for a walk with the family as there is plenty to see and do. The park dates back to 1876 and sits on 55 acres, featuring ornamental and woodland gardens, boating lake, sports facilities, bowling greens, play areas, animal house, maze, education centre and the beautiful Victorian Saltwell Towers. So your children will definitely not get bored as there is more than enough to keep a rambling family discovering delights for the whole length of a sunny afternoon.
Riverside Park, Chester-le-Street
Popular Riverside Park has lots to offer families including its play area and paddling pool, artist-designed ornamental garden, and cafe. Its play area covers 5,000 square metres and is suitable for all children, from toddlers to children in their teens. It has a lot of sturdy, modern interpretations of classic equipment, ideal for letting the fizz out of the kids for an hour as you relax.
Remember to consider the weather before going to these parks. You don’t want your kids being grumpy because of the bad weather!
